Sometimes the greatest violence you can do to your enemy is to encourage yourself. Dont wait for the situation to change because the situation is destined to change the moment you change your state. David had a reason to be negative. He and his closest associates suffered a great loss at the hand of their enemies. As far as he knew, he was walking with God and doing everything right. His men were so distressed they wanted to stone him but he chose to encourage himself in the Lord. How he did this exactly we do not know. What we do know is this: 1. His battle was taking place at the exact same time the kingdom was transitioning into his hand- he just did not know it. - Maybe your battle is a spiritual backlash because you just broke through someplace and the news did not get to you yet. 2. Everything David and his men assumed they had lost was about to be restored - with extra added! - God told David what to do to recover all. Dont assume what youve lost is actually lost. God may be in the process of bringing back what the enemy had no authority to take in the first place! Heres the verse: David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God. (1 Sam 30:6)
