Sometimes when people ask what my company does, I find it a bit difficult to explain exactly what threat mitigation is. But, I recently found a quote in a book 21st Century Intelligence that discusses threat mitigation: Vulnerabilities are inherent in the human and technological dimensions of our culture, practices, standards, trade-craft, methods, and resources. Assessing these vulnerabilities is an integral part of the essential and continual task of risk management. Recommendations to address these risks will include vulnerability mitigation measures such as the institution of countermeasures, rigorous standards and practices, and the identification of opportunities for exploitation. That last sentence is exactly what my company can offer a business, company, or even an individual.
