Sometimes you have to take a look at the people who have walked beside you during your life. My brother has been an increasingly larger part of my world the older we get. When we were children, I taught him how to ride a bike and tie his shoes. I convinced him that reading was a worthwhile endeavor. When we lost our parents I told him that he would have me and he always would, and he readily assured me of the same thing. He made it through those times with grace and poise that I couldnt even begin to imitate. Some day I may be able to look at him without seeing the toe headed, wide eyed, surly toddler with a crippling addiction to chocolate, but I hope that never happens. In a little more than a month he is going to be another year older but he will always be my baby brother. My family. I hope he sees this and is appropriately mortified.
