Somewhat twisted coffee break humor for a Wednesday-- Went into the breakroom to grab a cup of coffee. While waiting for the machine to get done brewing, I picked up a copy of the Tacoma News Tribune and read an article about the Spotted Owl. My humor is not about the spotted owl, endagered species, loggers, environmental conflict, tree huggers or the government-- it is simply an observation about the article. Not sure if this is the wildlife officials who missed the logic in the approach or the news editor who missed how ridiculous this sounds: Paragraph one of the article: Federal wildlife officals plan to dispatch armed bird specialists into the forests of the Pacific Northwes starting this fall to shoot one species of owl to protect another that is threatened with extinction. Second to last paragraph in the article; mind you the article was long enough start on the front page then conclude on the last page of the paper: Hunting will take place only in the fall and winter, to prevent taking the birds when they are caring for their young.
