Soooo.... I went floating today at Modern Gravity Float Studio. I have really been looking forward to it and I have to say, I wasnt disappointed. Modern Gravity is currently located in a residence as they are working on getting some commercial space. Of course, while I was chatting with the owners I had to put a plug in for them to consider Sherwood Park! The setup is in their basement and you have a washroom to yourself to shower and get into a housecoat. From there you walk down a very short hallway to the float room. You climb into the tank and shut the door behind you. There are two buttons, the important one is the one for lights. Once you are laying comfortably on your back, you push the button to turn the light off. It is then black. Pitch black. You cant hear anything, you cant see anything and you have no gravity pulling on your body. Then, you lay there. For 90 minutes. In the dark. With no sound. No sight. The temperature is set at just the right amount of heat so that your skin doesnt feel cold, even though it is wet. What do you think of for 90 minutes? I have no idea. I know I was concerned that my neck and back are tighter than I thought and werent relaxing as much as I would have liked. I know at one point I wondered how long I had been floating. It was the shortest long time later when I heard music being piped into the tank. That was my signal that my 90 minutes was up and it was time to get out. I turned the light on, opened the door, put on my housecoat and went for a shower. The post-shower rinses all the salt off and your skin is left silky smooth. Would I do it again? in a heartbeat! (I remember now! while I was laying there, I was mesmerized with listening to my heart beat and my lungs expand!). In fact, if I had one of these in my home, I would probably just use it for a bed and sleep in it every night!! My introductory float was only $30 and worth every penny.
