Soooo Me and Delphi had a really interesting night last night... It actually broke my heart. Im not sure what happened with her or if its just a new place or what. I showed her where her food and water was so she could eat and drink when needed and she looked at it and went checked everything out. Immediately last night she found her spot at the end of my bed on the left side. She would get up sometimes to roam and check out the area and come love on me or Nicole and then go back to her spot. Last night as I crawled into bed she went to spot as usual and as I drifted off to sleep she moved over to the right side and curled up to my feet. When I moved my feet (because I was asleep and Im still getting used to her being with me) she jumped off the bed and hid. I had to go find her.i got her out and did some loving on her and then moved over and showed her that she could sleep right next to me by my chest if she wanted. When I did that she flipped over and curled up and laid her head on my arm and went to sleep. So I fell asleep after awhile of petting her because I wanted to make sure she knows shes welcome and this is her home now. Anyway so i fall asleep and I hear her jump off the bed so I open my eyes and she looks at me and I realize shes at her water and I dont move and she gets scared and hides again. So I went and got her and loved on her. This happened again when she went to get water so I got up with and I laid down to her level and I called her over like I did to show her she could lay down next to me on my bed and she came over to me to the water and I put my fingers in the water and touched her nose and said its okay And I pet her. She then sat down and drank her water like she hadnt had water in days. Im sure she has but she hadnt drank anything in the time I had gotten her home. Im serious she drank that down like she wasnt going to get water again. I tried to get her to eat and she got scared and ran and hid. I had to get her out again and love on her. We had the same thing this morning. Took me about 15mins but I finally got her to eat. If I lay down with her she will eat but right afterwards she runs and hides and then when I get her to come out she checks the room like shes looking for someone. Once she knows its ok she comes to me and pours all this gratitude of love on me for the food and water. So I have done with dogs before but I havent done it with cats before so if you have tips or ideas with how I can help her to feel safe and know this is her home please let know. She is seriously the MOST loving cat I have ever met. She also flinches when your hand is raised at a certain angle, I realized that last night when I went to scratch my nose. It scared her. So yes tips would be appreciated. Im glad I got her to eat today though :)
