Sophies Vacation Day 5 Dear Mom, Tricia Reilly Spring is an interesting time here at the camp. Tino and Rossi dont like me using the term camp BTW... But since Im on vacation, Im going to keep on using it. There is still frost in the ground here which makes for muddy afternoons when I go to the barn.... I got to go all the way to the barn tonight without being on the leash. I ran circles around trees, Rossi, on the lawn and your dad.... So much fun.... Dont worry, your dad was ready to catch me if I got to carried away.... When we got to the barn, the leash was attached again. I dont wonderstsnd why Tino and Rossi dont need a leash... Please send a message to your Dad that I want to run free like my cousins. There is clear water dripping out of a broken branch of a Maple Tree. Tino, said it was Maple Sap. I replied, you mean Maple Syrup. He gave me an exasperated look and repeated the word Sap. Then being the smart one, told me to get Maple Syrup, you have to collect sap, boil it in a pan and it evaporates and becomes Maple Syrup. Now this is the really interesting part, it takes 40 gallons of sap to make one gallon of 100% pureMaple Syrup. I tried some sap it is sweet! I also got to sit on the big overstuffed chair tonight. I got the left arm, Tino had the right arm and Rossi lay on your Dads thigh... Tino really grumbled and mumbled... But I held my ground... We slept like that for 20 min. I think I might be weakening their opposition to letting me sleep in the bedroom at night... Ill save the rest for another day. Love, Sophie
