The other political white meat. The Teahadis are seething because Mitch McConnell, who has two of them in his primary and the Club for Growth gunning for him, got a dam. When asking some of our local Tea Party Kool Aid Drinkers what, at the 11th hour, without real transparency (which would be good) you do to get a deal done with a guy who is all about his selfish survival (as much as theirs) who needs something to keep his Kentucky constituents happy? Also, worth noting, local projects needing federal funding need doing all of the time, and we have NO SYSTEM in place really to bring up minor project bills. Even if we did, how likely is that to happen in a congress where the Teahadi monkey wrenches have made this the most unproductive Congress in United States history? Less than 50 bills passed more than half way through their term. Exactly. Pork is building something useless that no one wants or needs. The dam, apparently, is a major need in that part of the world. Until we can improve the system, the one weve got is the one weve got, and if a dam kept the financial flood gates of insolvency from opening yesterday, were kind of good with it.
