Sorry I missed last evenings banter boys…we are having Wi-Fi issues in the bedroom—yes it’s a personal problem!! Bollix! What more can be said after the Bruins gift wrap a victory like that?! They had just been there with Toronto;….they should have known better! Game six was among the best of the series too my mind—banging bodies everywhere, lighting fast pace and overall good defensive efforts by both clubs. Anyone who watches hockey might begin to think that hockey has become but a higher level of theatrical spectacle—the WWF on steroids if you will—but last evening proved that wrong;….. and I’m really not that cynical—not yet! But at any rate, no Game seven for the money mad men—not this year! One can’t help but conjure up memories of Al Pacino’s rally speech in “Any Given Sunday,” with his rant on football being a game of inches. He only entered that line to his locker room of football grunts b/c he was a closet hockey phan! If this Playoff run represents anything; it is that hockey is the truest game of inches. With the exception of Game four, this entire series was decided on one goal games—and these goals came hard and truly by inches; whether decided by a first pass, turnover, entry from the neutral zone or out hustling below the circles! Without slow motion replay, we as phans would not even be able to comprehend half of what goes on out there! If anyone wants to see some funny shit—go back and watch a game at real speed from thirty years ago—talk about slow motion! After the huge disappointment of a forty games season, the NHL managed to finish this one off in Epic Style! What an amazing playoff run and a Stanley Cup for the ages—there have never been so many overtime deciders as in the last half of this Playoff season! Awesome! Cheers to the Blackhawks on a hard won Cup! Honorable mention to an amazing effort by the Bruins! Detroit gets kudos for giving the Hawks as hard(er) run as/than the Bruins! …and Pitt/Crosby: you boys better get your game together! No lock-out next year--thank you hockey gods!
