Sorry I was wrong in the start date of Ramadan. It actually begins here on July 9. Muslims will fast from sunrise to sunset each day. They are not allowed to drink water or even chew gum during the fast periods each day, the expection to this fasting rule is young children are not expected to fast. As a non-Muslim as a sign of respect you are not to eat or drink water in front of a fasting Muslim. There are some restaurants that will pull down blinds or put curtains up over their windows so non-Muslims can eat lunch or stop in and have a cold drink/coffee without disrespecting the practices of Ramadan.
