Sorry for all these posts today. Im in an opinionated mood... AND READ MY POST BEFORE YOU THINK I AGREE WITH THIS ARTICLE, CAUSE I DO NOT!!! Heres an open letter to Taxi Companies in Miami. Dear taxi drivers in Miami, Uber is here. Your days are numbered. And I, for one, couldnt be happier. First off, you dont know or care where youre going and you are not incentivized to give good service. You refuse to take credit cards even though the card machine working fine. You refuse to wait for one minute, you honk at everyone, youre constantly on the phone and you scoff at a 15% tip. They should pick up on Aviss old slogan, because Uber tries harder. The app is simple and game-like, with little cars making their way to you on a map all done with one tap. Cars are clean and drivers enthusiastic and super nice. An Uber picked me up in a Mercedes for half the price of my recent taxi ride which was basically a hot, springs-missing-on the seat, air-conditioner-less jalopy which left me with the smelled of arroz con pollo all afternoon. Best of all, no money changes hands, the tip is included and when you give them a bad rating (I have not given anyone a bad rating yet), they are penalized. Lets face it - they are here to disrupt and you will be disrupted. I heard stories where the cops are handing out $2,000 tickets to Uber drivers at the airport. Its cause your lousy service and even lousier attitudes can no longer suffice as acceptable and the powerful people in your companies are running scared. I personally dont care if they are playing by the rules. Sure theyre not medalioned. I dont care. What I do care about is that theyre better, faster, nicer and cheaper. There was a story in Salon today about why Uber should not succeed and become a monopoly. I dont agree. I think water finds its own level and let it happen. When I call a taxi in Miami for the airport, I specify that I want one that takes cards. The dispatchers response, They all have to take credit cards, but they dont like to. Just dont tell them you are paying with a car until you get to the airport. Gee, thanks. I remember way back when AT&T was the only phone company and then Judge Harold Greene split it into 7 pieces, nothing has been the same since. Prices still seems the same and service has only gotten worse - No.... I cant hear you now!!!. Bring back one great company in every sector and keep them honest and fair Sorry, taxi companies. Uber is the new yellow. Heres that article I mentioned. Read it and let me know your thoughts. salon/2014/08/31/why_uber_must_be_stopped/
