Sorry for the graphic photo, but this is what happens if an eye - TopicsExpress

Sorry for the graphic photo, but this is what happens if an eye infection does not receive early and proper treatment. A barn kitten was brought in with a severe eye issue that was being treated at home. When it became swollen, they tried to clean it and the eye actually just exploded. It needed to be removed and they couldnt afford the surgery, so Kitten Krazy asked that he be relinquished to us. Except for the eye, he was a healthy kitten, yet most shelters would have euthanized him. We do not euthanize healthy animals or any that we can help. A kitten can certainly live a good life with one, or even both eyes removed! We named him Mercy and he had surgery the next day. Within a couple of days, he was playing with toys in his cage. Its amazing how resilient these little guys at! When his incision healed, he got a cage mate to play with, a female kitten just about his size named Teaser. Teasers story is pretty incredible, but thats for another day! Mercy and Teaser have become close friends, wrestling and playing like siblings. Both of them are in a foster home until they are big enough for spay and neuter. Then they will be up for adoption. The pictures are of Mercy before surgery, after surgery and about ten days later. Hes such a happy kitten! The saying is that cats have nine lives...... I think that we help ones like Mercy have ten!
