Sorry for the lack of updates recently, not much out of the ordinary has been happening, just the normal, run of the mill things, but I guess there are enough things to make an update about. We have two new additions to the pack, I still dont know the full story, will find that out on Monday, apparently two dogs they were with have already been killed with poison and the lady was worried about these two being killed, so she needed to urgently get them removed from where they were. The youngest one seems to be about a year old and has Demodectic Mange as well as a slight fever. I started her on Ivomec injections today. I have run out of vaccinations again, so need to go up to Thalang to Dr Trethep to buy another box. We have named her Taylor (Tayls). The older girl with the long hair is Chelcie. Neither have been sterilised, so I will get them done, along with Banjo, Jerry and Tigerlilly, probably this week coming. I just want to wait until Jerrys Distemper is totally over, but hes definitely on the other side of it now. No more works have happened at the shelter, other than Satja adding some height to the fences to stop the dogs jumping out, but its still not 100%, so when he gets back from Bangkok next week, he will finish that job off. Guess what Satja is doing this weekend? He is inspecting and buying a vehicle for the shelter and will drive it back to Phuket next week. Its only done 18,000kms and is in good condition, still the price of the new Chrysler, but a better car. Second hand car prices here are crazy, so high. Anyway, I will finally - after 4.5 years have my own purpose-fitted dog vehicle, I cant wait! Now that Steve is back, I need to get him onto building the swimming pool, we also need to buy a couple of loads of blue metal stones and 4 cubic metres of decent sand for the sandpit, the other stuff is terrible and it makes the dogs so dirty, because its grey. Sand isnt sand here in Thailand, you have to be very particular to say that you want sand, not crushed granite. The monks have been helping me a lot more lately, which is really nice, it feels nice to have them interested and involved in the shelter. They make me feel really welcome and happy to be there. Today Luang Pee Ton brought over some rice, which is a help, as we are not using 4kg per day as Id guessed, but about 5.5kg, I am always buying rice and meat... I have promised Luang Pee Uthai that when I get the new, larger fridge for the clinic (the other is totally wrong, but I bought a small one, being very conscious of not using too much power), he can have the other one. He is so excited, LOL. He is such a gregarious, warm person, I love his company, his laugh, his goodness, he really cares about the cats and dogs so very much. Laura Pollock has been taking care of all the cats and kittens, but I do need to shampoo one cat, the one with trench mouth, or whatever it is. I have bought 3 bottles of Gentian Violet for treatment so far and lost each one (ie; broken), but keep forgetting to buy some more, hopefully it will sink into my brain this trip to the vets and I can get his treatment finished. He looks so terrible, he cant lick his coat properly, so he looks very dishevelled and wet. The tortoises have all been moved down the the fruit orchard, where there is water and Morning Glory as well as trees and leaf compost for them to hide in. They were not in the right place at all with the pigs at the temple. The pigs are really messing things up and the place stinks, so many flies now too. :( I dont think they should be at the temple. So much work is happening at the temple, I think this must be people wanting to develop it because of Ajaans promotion to Phra Kru. I love my temple, it has such a nice feeling to it, I remember the first time I visited to check the place and the dogs out, I loved it then, I love it more now. We have a new chapel being built for which we need to raise 5m Baht, new accommodation for extra monks as well as a new, updated kitchen, a meditation sala in the garden, soon the crematorium for pets… it goes on. Anyway, when I think of anything else to add, youll see it in comments. :) Thanks for listening!
