Sorry for the late arrival, I hope you enjoy. Sunday Night Pizza – No. 71 – May 26, 2014 “Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” – Hebrews 4.16 It is the greatest thing in the world to be a Christian at WestRidge! Solomon wrote in Proverbs 25, “Like cold water to a weary soul is good news from a distant land.” I think we can apply that to individuals as well. We had several gone for the Memorial Day weekend, but weren’t we blessed to see Ronnie and Belinda Manis, Rhonda , Mack and Ron Foster, and Tom and Hebron Chester with us for worship this morning. We had a number of other guests that blessed us with their presence, but like cold water to a weary soul, it is always a blessing to see old friends. What a treat it was. Let me add how wonderful it was to see and get a hug from Willma Hickman. She hasn’t been with us in a month or so, and it was really good to see her this morning. Wasn’t Barry’s lesson this morning wonderful. There is so much we can say about prayer, and he reminded us, we need to believe in the power of prayer. I loved the examples he used from the prayer board at Harding, the sincere expressions from the students, who were in need, who were struggling, who had loved ones with issues, and who simply wanted to express thanks. I know I missed some, but I jotted down some of the thoughts shared on the prayer board. Here are some of the ones I remember, you may have had others. - Wrap our arms around each other - Believe in people and acceptance - Pray that doubts will be removed and love restored - Show us how to be a friend - Help me be an encourager - Help me see the light - Have the courage to get help - You (God) are in control of all things - You are God, and I am not - Pray for me to learn to do His will - Teach me to listen to your voice - Turn everything over to God Have you ever thought these things? Prayed any of these things? If we are honest with ourselves, the answer is probably yes. These prayer concerns and requests are real, and I truly believe they reflect some of our things that are on our mind as well. Talk earnestly to God, give him all of your cares and concerns, give your burdens to him and let him be God. Personally, I loved the idea of the prayer board where concerns could be posted. I think it would benefit all of us to have such a thing at WestRidge. What do you think? Continue to keep the Prater family in your prayers as well as Shirley Chester, who fell this morning. Last report was no broken bones, so we are grateful for that. It was good to see Jack Archer back with his service dog. What a blessing that will be for him. Also remember Zach and Emily tomorrow as they travel back from Michigan, that they have safe journeys. Don’t forget the Men’s breakfast Saturday morning at 8 a.m., and our Wednesday night small groups at 7 p.m. If you haven’t picked up a can for the Children’s Home, be sure and do that as well. Have a great Memorial Day, give thanks for this country and those who served. We are truly a blessed nation. Love each other this week, encourage each other. Grace and peace to you. Dalton
