Sorry we havent updated for a while - Elin is fast approaching the end of Year 3 and has been loving every second of school. She tells me she is quite disappointed the holidays are coming - school seems to be the centre of her world at the moment! We have been incredibly fortunate with this chemotherapy combination, in so many ways. It has allowed Elin to attend school around her weekly treatment afternoons at Brighton hospital and she has been so well in herself. She has been busy getting on with the loveliness of being 8. This chemotherapy is the 6th combination over 3 yrs and we continue to beat a relatively unchartered path. Her initial response to it in the autumn and winter allowed us to live in 9 week blocks, scan result to scan result; however her response has now gone beyond that, and the consultant is now starting to describe it as incredible. The disease is still in her lungs but the extent to which it has responded means Elin is now eligible for a further significant treatment plan. We had a meeting with two consultants yesterday and have some thinking to do. We are most likely on the last cycle of this current combination, as her blood results show evidence that her system is tiring after 12 courses. She is full of beans though, in herself, which gives us hope everyday. Hope you like the pics (I love the one of El on the phone next to her homework - my grown up girl. The one in the hospital was taken waiting for the most recent CT scan - and the two following show a giddy Elin with the scan done and dusted!). We are heading into an uncertain time now but remain incredibly positive about the future, helped so much by all your support. A million kindnesses for which we are forever grateful.
