South Dakota just passed a law banning discrimination against specific breeds of dogs. But a bill was just introduced into their legislature to permit businesses to deny service based on a customers race or religion. If passed, I could be denied buying band-aids in a pharmacy because I am Roman Catholic. I could be refused service at a lunch counter because my grandfather was a Jew. Probably I could be prevented from buying a bottle of water in a convenience store if I was an atheist. We went to war in 1941 against a country that thought this was right and now it has crept into this country. Maybe the people of South Dakota are embarrassed by this evil but maybe not.
