South Sydney coach Michael Maguire has named Dylan Walker at five-eighth for Thursdays NRL season opener against Sydney Roosters. Walker is battling to be fit following an ankle injury sustained in the Charity Shield with John Sutton selected at lock. Dual international Lote Tuqiri will make his Souths debut on the wing with halfback Adam Reynolds passed fit to play following a knee problem. Walker is yet to play in the halves at NRL level having played most of his career in the centres, but has filled the role in the lower grades. Despite naming him in the side, Maguire insisted on Tuesday he would give Walker up until kick-off to prove his fitness. He (Walker) will do a little bit today, but then its obviously how he pulls up tomorrow, Maguire said. Probably its right up until the Thursday because of the injury that Dylan has got. Hes pulling up okay, but we want to make sure hes right to get through 80 minutes of footy. The doctors have to see whether hes got any impingement in that ankle because its obviously going to be a high-intensity game with a lot of speed and Dylan obviously utilises his speed quite well. Maguire ruled out Inglis moving to five-eighth and said the Queensland and Kangaroos superstar would remain at fullback, with John Sutton to return to the position hes occupied for the last two seasons. Back-rower Kyle Turner is named on a six-man bench along with Luke Burgess.
