International Criminal Court (ICC) judges were shocked on Wednesday after it emerged that many witnesses who have been testifying in the case facing Deputy President William Ruto were coached and were liars. These shocking revelations emerged after the 29th witness admitted to have lied in his statements used to confirm the ICC case against Ruto and his co-accused, Joshua Sang. The witness who was testifying on Wednesday said he was paid to fix Ruto at ICC and he can reveal as many as 23 witnesses, who were paid and coached by the Office of the Prosecutor. The witness, who started his testimony on Monday, said he told ICC Chief Prosecutor, Fatou Bensouda, that his evidence and that of other witnesses was fabricated. The Judges, who were left mouths wide, open after the damning revelations, read the riot act to Bensouda accusing her of using unreliable information and witnesses. Case presiding Judge, Chile Eboe Osuji, demanded to know why they presented an unreliable witnesses. The Judges said that they would soon rule on the matter since they are tired of lies from the Office of the Prosecutor. One of the judges said they might stop the case and conduct a fresh probe into Ruto and Sang’s cases.
