Southern California Summer Camp Day 3 - Coach Champy. My job was to oversee the over 14 years old bunch. We got a bit of a late start due to traffic, and only manage to have a short warm up for the 8 am players. There were some who struggled in the first set, due to nervousness or unpreparedness, but all managed to improve in the second set. Sadly, there were none that able to win back the match in three sets. As of the results, we have three of our players ha to face a seeded player. One of them, Zhao, had to face the 1st seed and he got beaten fairly in two sets. On the good note, Wong beat the 7th seed and Jiang beat the 6th seed. Husin also proceeded to the next round beating fellow teammate Cui in a good two sets match. He next meet another teammate, Jiang. Overall, I think we did pretty well. All of them fought throughout their matches. I think there are some room of improvement on playing an aggressive yet a good percentage tennis. I believe as they understand that the main goal of this first week and for any of their matches, really, is to improve their games and to learn to apply what they had put in during the training hours. If they keep this attitude, I believe they will reap the rewards, either it is an improvement on certain areas of their game or a victorious match. Expecting a better day tomorrow, as our players will face better opponents. Doubles matches will begin tomorrow as well. Coach Champy Halim
