Southern Kaduna Massacre: CEDRA Calls On Federal Government To Declare State Of Emergency The Centrum Initiative for Development and Rights Advocacy (CEDRA), Kaduna, has strongly condemned Friday night’s killings by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Ungwan Gata, Me-Sankwai and Tekum villages in Moro’a Chiefdom of Kaura Local Government Area, and called on the federal government to declare a state of emergency in Southern Kaduna. As reported by SaharaReporters, over 100 people were killed in the attack. CEDRA said in a statement signed by its spokesman, John Danfulani, that the killings in three villages continued into the early hours of this morning, and confirmed that over 100 innocent Southern Kaduna villagers were butchered with impunity, describing the killings as “gradual genocide and extinction.” In addition to the killings, the group said hundreds of houses were burnt to ashes by the herdsmen. “We reiterate our stand that State of Emergency be [declared] in Southern Kaduna area of the state contrary to the political propaganda being mounted by Kaduna state government and their shortsighted hallucinating agents,” the statement said. CEDRA further stated that it is clear that Kaduna state government and their agents are only playing politics with the insecurity ravaging Southern Kaduna, accusing the government and security agencies in the state of double standards. “It is abundantly clear that the elders and elected representatives from Southern Kaduna are less concerned due to their political expediencies,” the group said. “They should know that posterity will judge them and they have begun their journey into the political wilderness as the blood of our helpless villagers is on their heads.”
