Southwest Virginia ranks number two in the state when it comes to domestic violence homicides. Domestic violence is a community issue! In result of the increasing numbers, a domestic violence task force has been created and the Roanoke City Police Chief Chris Perkins is committed to cracking down on domestic violence abusers. The Roanoke City Police Department has two police officers who focus on domestic violence cases. (One of those officers is Detective F.W. Leftwich who is a member of our Family Violence Coordinating Council - A few other FVCC members will also be part of the task force.) We appreciate our city’s dedication to making our community safer! We applaud everyone’s efforts!
