Southwood had our periodic visit from DHS today and again had 100% compliance! This would not be possible without the hard work and detail to attention of our amazing teachers and staff! Please stop by this week and thank them for all of their hard work! They are truly amazing! If you arent familiar with DHS visits, this is where a DHS licensing worker will visit Southwood (and all other state licensed facilities), unannounced, about every 4 months. Our licensing worker will check that we are meeting all state licensing guidelines such as ensuring that we have a clean and safe facility, that staff have required background checks and training, that lesson plans are posted, and even check to make sure there is soap, paper towels, and appropriate water temperature in each restroom. This is a very long process and I am so proud of our staff who have been able to maintain a consistent record of 100% compliance.
