Soviet / Warsaw Pact / OpFor Gear Sale Make: Issue Item: Soviet era visor cap w/ pale blue trim for Air Force and Paratroopers badged for Bulgarian Lieutenant / Lieutenant-Captain / Captain size 58cm Condition: Used Fair Splits/Swaps/Part Exchange: N/Y/Y Price/Payment: £17.70 all in Blurb: In the Soviet military the Air Force ie the ground crew, logistics, and aircrew, and paratroopers, plus their logistics, command and control, and also political cadre, were all part of the same overarching department and all wore light blue trimmed uniforms*, as opposed to the raspberry red trim of ground troops, or the border guards green trim; *the border guards also had their own separate air force and paratroopers; the black navy uniform is on a different pattern all together. Company level officers were ranked as Lieutenant, Junior or Lieutenant Captain, and Senior Captain. The badge central crest is detachable from the wreath and this one denotes Bulgaria, but could be replaced with any former Soviet emblem. These caps were part of the day-to-day uniform, but you can also find pictures of Soviet ВДВ Officers (VDV - paratroopers) wearing them under the hoods of their berezka (beech / digital bunnies) KZS camouflage combat over-jackets. This one has some light wear marks but is still sound and has plenty of wear left in it. The size marking 58 is a bit conservative - my head is 57.4cm min. and this hat fits me more loosely than bang on 58cm would. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Make: 50s-70s and beyond Soviet Issue Item: Y Strap Harness / Webbing Condition: Fair, New Old Stock, Modified Splits/Swaps/Part Exchange: N/Y/Y Price/Payment: £23.70 all in Blurb: Used with the ubiquitous Soviet faux-leather belt to help support the weight of a triple or quadruple AK-47 mag pouch, double grenade pouch, 0.7L canteen, and spade. This one is a medium size modified to just about fit a large. The straps are canvas with a PU coating; leather bands attach PU covered woollen felt pads; the buckles are galvanised steel. It has not survived storage perfectly: the leather could do with more oiling as it was very dry when it came to me and there are spots of rust on a couple of bits of the metalwork where the zinc coating has proved insufficient. I have cleaned and oiled it however so it no longer has a stores stench and a little TLC will bring it up to perfectly usable and nigh on bombproof. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Make: late 80s-current Soviet then Russian Issue Item: Combat Jacket, Berezka Camouflage, size medium Condition: Very Good, Used Splits/Swaps/Part Exchange: N/Y/Y Price/Payment: £40.00 all in Blurb: Issued to Border Guards and a favourite of Special Forces; the berezka beech camouflage is also nicknamed Digital Bunnies due to the ears in the pattern. 4 front pockets & 2 internal breast pockets w/ buttons, 2 arm pockets with velcro. All buttons and velcro present and correct; some signs of wear but no splits/rips/holes; properly kept and laundered. Actual measurements: Chest 112.5cm / Shoulders 49cm / Outside Sleeve 57cm / Length 64.5cm ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Make: 70s - early 80s Soviet Issue Item: Syriyka Jacket size 48-2 (96cm chest / 161-67cm height) Condition: Excellent, New Old Stock Splits/Swaps/Part Exchange: N/Y/Y Price/Payment: £33.70 all in Blurb: Introduced in the 70s as a desert uniform for use in Syria, hence the name, this was also the uniform issued at the beginning of the Soviet-Afghan War. All buttons present and correct, no wear marks; it does need a couple of washes to clear stores stench. It is plenty bigger than the Soviet size suggests. Internal dividers are not stitched to the bottom which allows greater versatility. Works brilliantly as a dump pouch, or by using the dividers, a combined ammo, dump, and utility pouch. Carries long RPK style AK mags.
