Spatial Data Security Relevance (A Sensed State Prospective) Mehdi Bokhari & Yasir Bokhari With the launch of Google Earth and MS Virtual Earth the big question of spatial data security once again has gained its momentum in many circles. Fortunately this time it’s not only the under developed or developing countries, but prominent circles from Australian, Dutch, and other governments are also onboard. With the monopoly of a few and absence of clear space laws it’s difficult for many to comprehend where such discussions or concerns would lead? Some say “Might is Right”, some say “What can one do?” and some say “It’s a Global Village”. However, all of us agree that some spatial assets are definitely confidential and having such information publicly available can jeopardize a country’s territorial integrity, privacy of its people and security of its vital national resources. How can a nation assure that such information is not surveyed or sensed by unauthorized entities? This is in particular very difficult when the sensing entity exist outside the sensed state jurisdiction. This paper provides a discussion venue to move further on such highly sensitive subject. Indeed, the discussion would vary from country to country and agency to agency. The final individual state conclusion could lead to both sides of the coin, or we might be able to find a more comfortable middle ground this time. uqu.edu.sa/files2/tiny_mce/plugins/filemanager/files/4260086/1/8%20Spatial%20Data%20Secuity.pdf
