Spaying or Neutering your River Retriever will not only void any and all health guarantees but will also greatly impact their future for a healthy life. There are many studies these days that show early spay/neuter will significantly increase the puppys risks for many cancers as well as abnormal growth which will affect their bone and joint development. I cannot express with enough importance when discussing this with your vet IF they suggest or guilt you into performing this procedure before a minimum of 1 year of age you need to seek another vet. Vets that push this only do so because they feel that you are an irresponsible owner.
