Speaking as a university administrator, Id like to think that Id - TopicsExpress

Speaking as a university administrator, Id like to think that Id blow the whistle in exactly the same way were I placed in Freya Newmans situation. I completely back her actions, one hundred percent. (But I dont think that too many LNP politicians would be keen to cut shady deals to get their sons and daughters into free nursing school. Itd be like Hey yeah Im gonna cut public funding and jobs from that field you just trained for LOL.) As much as the policies of the Abbott government are detestably anti-education, anti-environment, anti-income-equality, etc, theyre well within their rights to govern how they choose, as the elected party in power (ugh). This, however, goes well beyond those awful policies - the treatment of Freya Newman is a vindictive, petty attack against someone acting in the public interest, perpetrated by a government intent on abusing its power to subvert that same public interest. To truck out a cliche regrettably becoming less cliched in light of recent events: youd expect this of a police-state, not Australia.
