Speaking from the vote count in Clacton, Conservative MP Priti Patel told Sky News: A vote for UKIP will bring Ed Miliband into Number 10. The claim was dismissed by Tory defector Mark Reckless, who is standing for UKIP in the upcoming Rochester and Strood by-election. What we are seeing, in Heywood and Middleton as well as here (in Clacton), is if people are voting Conservative what they are going to do is let Labour in, Mr Reckless said. I think UKIP could win Heywood and Middleton, except that many Conservatives dont realise that its only UKIP who are challenging Labour. If they were to switch to the UKIP candidate in many of those constituencies then we would see massive numbers of UKIP MPs and a much-reduced chance of Ed Miliband being prime minister.
