Special Operator 2nd Class Ryan Job From Marcus Luttrells Facebook Page, dated March 7, 2010 An Obituary On Thursday September 24th, 2009 America lost an incredibly inspirational young man—Navy SEAL Ryan Curtis Job. SO2 Job, a Scottsdale, AZ resident, was 28 years old. Ryan was born and raised in Washington State and he graduated from Issaquah High School in 1999. He attended the University of Washington for 3 years before enlisting in the Navy in 2002. After completing the Navy’s elite SEAL training in 2004 he was ordered to SEAL Team THREE. In April 2006 he deployed as a member of Task Unit Bruiser to Ramadi, Iraq. During this time, Ramadi was the most dangerous place in the world. Ryan conducted multiple combat and shaping operations leading the way to the “Awakening of Al Anbar.” On August 2, 2006, he was providing overwatch security for Iraqi and Coalition Forces when he was struck in the face by an enemy sniper, blinding him permanently and forcing him to medically retire from the Navy. As part of ongoing treatments for these wounds he underwent multiple surgeries to repair the damage. It was during recovery from his most recent surgery that Ryan passed away unexpectedly. Ryan just completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in September 2009 from Jones International University, and was preparing to start an MBA program in January 2010. Illustrative of his dedication and motivation is the fact that he graduated with a 4.0 grade point average despite being blind. Most recently he participated in an Internship with General Dynamics, where he was to become employed in 2010. In March 2007, Ryan married Kelly Lester in San Diego where they had met, and moved to Scottsdale, AZ to resume their degree programs. Kelly is pregnant with their first child. In addition to his wife, Ryan is survived by his parents Eric and Debbie Job, and two younger siblings, Aaron and Kelsie. Despite his permanent disability, Ryan was an incredibly dynamic and motivational man who gave of himself to many organizations and individuals. He was a Sentinels of Freedom Scholarship Recipient, a Camp Patriot National Spokesman, and was blessed to have his Southeastern Guide Dog, Trey. With the help of Camp Patriot, Ryan summited Mt. Rainier and bagged a magnificent elk in 2008. He then returned to help other injured veterans climb Mt. Rainier in 2009. Ryan put others before himself, both in military service and in his personal life. SO2 Job is a combat-decorated warrior who is qualified to wear the Naval Special Warfare Insignia Device, the Navy Parachutist Insignia, Bronze Star Medal with Combat Distinction, Purple Heart Medal, Navy Commendation Medal with Combat Distinction, Navy Achievement Medal, Navy Good Conduct Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Expert Rifle and Pistol Medal, and numerous other Unit and Campaign Awards. Rest In Peace Ryan. Youre sorely missed. Ill celebrate our birthday for both of us! God Bless this Warrior! I just finished reading Chris Kyles American Sniper for the second time yesterday afternoon and the events at the end is still very heartbreaking. I learned of him in a book and his memory must be preserved by all of us.
