Special Weather Statement for July 28, 2014. After discussions - TopicsExpress

Special Weather Statement for July 28, 2014. After discussions with the team and going over the models for tomorrow, we feel it is important enough to issue our OWN, meaning this is NOT an OFFICIAL weather bulletin..yet, statement for tomorrow. Tomorrow will bring high heat for the second day in a row causing a dramatic surface heating in the morning. A cold front will begin to push down from the north early afternoon causing a great deal of convection to begin occurring by mid afternoon. This, along with a high level wind shear, brings the potential for some very severe weather to our area. The primary threats for this event will be large hail, heavy downpours, frequent lightning, and high gusty winds (80mph+). Though we can not rule out the chances of tornadoes tomorrow, it wont be a wide spread tornadic event. We believe the tornado chances will run in the 20-30% by mid afternoon tomorrow. The worry with this type of system, is the cold fronts that come through around this time of year are generally not this powerful. This particular cold front will cause a great deal of convection which is one of the main ingredients for severe weather. Please make sure to have your alert radios on, and notifications from our page turned on tomorrow, as we feel tomorrow could be a potentially heavy outbreak of severe weather across Alabama, Georgia, and the Florida panhandle. Our team will be watching this very closely and keeping you informed as quickly as possible. Stay safe! Chad Jackson - Radar Analyst
