Special thanks to the Voice of the Rock Springs Tigers Blain Myers - TopicsExpress

Special thanks to the Voice of the Rock Springs Tigers Blain Myers for providing the broadcast feed when I received an opportunity I could not have taken advantage of had I continued to Rock Springs to call the games myself (I turned around at the Bridger Valley). Following the post game from Blain, I did a rundown of the preliminaries times and scores for the Red Devil Swimming & Diving team, in the relays and the individuals listed in the Top 20 -- sometimes extended a little deeper -- and want to wish the very best to all representing EHS at the Campbell County Aquatics Center in Gillette for the 4A State Meet. That goes for the Red Devil Wrestlers also competing at State in Casper. There was a great deal more detail for the grapplers, so it was a pleasure to rip through the first day results for each individual Red Devil warrior from 106 to 285 lbs. Hoping for the very best for all who will compete tomorrow, in particular, Bruce Lester at 145 and Batista Covolo at 152, both going into title matches. What a way to end your careers in your senior season, as 4A State Champions! I only wish junior Will Kishpaugh hadnt been injured at 170, but especially feel bad for senior Kyler Wagstaff, and what could have been. Injuries to the two-year EHS varsity quarterback required surgery, and the senior whose surname is synonymous with Red Devil Wrestling didnt have the opportunity to compete at all in his final year of eligibility. I dont think many would argue Kyler would have helped his team all season long (and he did as an inspirational leader) and would be in the mix at the state. I personally believe hed be right there with senior classmates Lester and Covolo, wrestling for a state championship, and Evanston could very well have dominated the 4A in those middle weights classes, with Kyler say at 160, and Kishpaugh at 170. Will has another chance next year, but like Kyler told me, when he took some time for an interview, prior to the Evanstons EI -- I really, really like football, but I LOVE wrestling. I knew Covolo reminded me of someone, and it dawned on me a while back who it was...kind of a combination of facial expressions, mannerisms and his overall look, but to me, Batista makes me think of a young Sylvester Stallone! Go Red Devils!
