SpecialNeedsWare, the proud creators of the award-winning learning platform, AutisMate, is excited to announce the addition of Michael Soria to the management team as the Director of Education Solutions. Michael will utilize his extensive knowledge in special education to help provide access to learning for students with alternate assessment standards in school districts and educational agencies. “I’m delighted to welcome someone as passionate and dedicated as Michael to the team to help us continue our mission of improving the lives of students with special needs,” says Jonathan Izak, CEO of SpecialNeedsWare. “Michael’s vast experience in special education and personal connection to our cause makes him the perfect person to introduce our technology platforms to educational institutions across the country.” Michael joins SpecialNeedsWare with over 25 years of experience in the educational field. Michael began his career in the classroom teaching middle and high school History while serving as the liaison between general education, resource and special needs classrooms. Michael was awarded Teacher of the Year twice and became department chair for the History department. Before joining SpecialNeedsWare, Michael served as the Executive Director of Education at a special needs math and reading curriculum publisher. During this time, he also provided consultant services to several leading school districts across the country. Michael regularly appears as a guest lecturer at several local, state, national and international special education conferences and universities. Michael resides in Houston, Texas with his wife, Lee Ann, and six children, including two sons who are autistic. He’s been a long-time advocate for students on the spectrum, having performed a variety of volunteer roles in the autism community.
