Specially for the early childhood educators. Child A (3years - TopicsExpress

Specially for the early childhood educators. Child A (3years old) was asked numerous time to put away the toys. Later I overheard her conversation w her friend. A: I dont like Teacher Nura! (W that little evil angry look on her face) B: I oso dont like Teacher Nura! Everyone tells me children dont mean their words. Theyll forget by mins or hours later. However this child didnt. She refuses to participate in lessons, at time rolling her eyes on me and it went on for almost 2 days. She refuses rewards or affection. I told myself I had to do something. The one time she tempered out again, I took the chance to talk to her and reason out. It took awhile before she agrees to listen. The next few hours and days I got myself involve in her playtime. Gave her opportunities to help around just so I could get through to her. She slowly opened up her heart. Today, she said something I value very much (melted too cause I was all cranky and down with cold)! A: I sayang u teacher nura.... That moment, I knew Ive won her heart. To all you people (Ive heard alot) commenting that, You only have to jaga the kids while their mummy daddy go work what. So easy I also can do!, other time commenting how we childcare teacher jobs are low-grading as compared to primary and secondary teacher. Thank you. We accept it with open arms. But my dear colleagues of early childhood teaching, I need you to know that you have done a very good job. Your sacrifices of being kicked and punched, at times going home w the stench of vomit but still saying it is okay.. Putting in a handful of effort for the awesome teaching aids just so children run home to their parents saying Mummy daddy today my teacher taught me about kiwi! and the story about kiwi continued for weeks (my own personal encounter). Give yourself a pat right now and tell yourself even if we are not recognised by everyone else, we are recognized and loved by our little kiddos. Now please, be proud to celebrate your deserving Teachers Day sweethearts.
