Speeding traffic on Ledbury By-Pass. I have established with Herefordshire Council that the process for getting a lower speed limit and/or traffic calming is for Ledbury Town Council formally to request Balfour Beatty to undertake a traffic investigation looking at volume, speed and risk. Their assessment and recommendations would then be passed to the County for sign-off by a senior officer, in discussion with the relevant Cabinet member. There is apparently a huge back-log of such potential TROs (Traffic Regulation Orders) although projects can be prioritised according to the risk they represent. I have this morning written to the Clerk to find out how this could be picked up in the near future by the Town Council. Obviously the matter may already have been discussed (before my joining LTC earlier this year), and the wheels, as it were, may be in motion. Ill report back when I have a response.
