Spent the last two days on the hills on the southern shore of Loch Earn red deer stalking. The first day was literally a total washout with strong wind, rain and not a deer to be seen anywhere however today was completely different as the photos show plus there were deer everywhere. The photos show both sides of the glen and I climbed both sides today to get to the deer. This morning we were within 400 yards of a group of hinds when they were spooked by, of all things, a golden eagle! However as I have not seen one in the wild before it was great to spend 30 minutes just watching it hunting the heather all around us. This afternoon we climbed the other side of the glen and I was successful in getting two red deer hinds. Getting them off the hill was really hard work with one of them weighing in at over 110lbs!
