Spinal thought 296. Pushing a pram or baby buggy is another task - TopicsExpress

Spinal thought 296. Pushing a pram or baby buggy is another task that doesn’t have to be backbreaking if you remember that the wheels will move with the minimum of effort to nudge them along. The lighter the grip of the handles the more you can focus on your head, neck and back staying poised and long. I used to play with only using the tip of the thumb with the tip of one of the other fingers, sometimes moving from index finger to long finger and so on. When you have to manoeuvre the pram or buggy up steps, on to a pavement or over a threshold is when you need to take hold of the handles more securely and hinge forward from the hips. Once accomplished is when to remember to let go of that effort so that you don’t find yourself stooped over the pram and the hands gripping tight again.
