Spiritual Skill... If the ax is dull and its edge unsharpened, more strength is needed, but skill will bring success. - Eccle 10:10 Skill is the ability to do something well arising from talent, training, or practice. Theres that time your spiritual life seem dull and unsharpened due to inability to grow from the basic things of faith. Spiritual immaturity is as the result of lack of spiritual skill. • Spiritual skill is gained through spiritual exercise; For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. (Hebrews 5:12-14 NKJV) > Many today who claimed to believe in Jesus remains immature spiritually, they love and hold tenaciously to the first principles of the oracles of God; and they have come to need milk and not solid food. For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. • Many in the Lord are too afraid to stir up the spiritual gifts in them, therefore they chose to be slaves to those men who dared to stir up theirs. Out of fear of fallen away, they shun anyone trying to help them be enlightened, and taste the heavenly gift, and become partakers of the Holy Spirit, and taste the good word of God and the powers of the age to come (Heb 6:4-5). Some who stirred up their also think its an avenue to open their own church, since the crowd comes to their gifts. > Everyone in Christ Jesus is gifted and equipped to perform in the name of Jesus, but many chose to remain slaves and never wish to graduate from the elementary. To such people Paul said, Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, of the doctrine of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. And this we will do if God permits. (Hebrews 6:1-3 NKJV) • As spacial skill is vital for secular success, so is spiritual skill vital to spiritual success; Physical exercise has some value, but spiritual exercise is valuable in every way, because it promises life both for the present and for the future. (1 Timothy 4:8 GNT) > Spiritual skill is more important than physical skill. We need to acquire spiritual skill to enable us grow spiritually. Train yourself to know how God speaks to you. Its not what you can learn from Sunday or bible school, its gained by personal walk with the Lord; It is written in the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught by God.’ Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me. (John 6:45 NKJV) • You need this spiritual skill directly from God, If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of the giving God [Who gives] to everyone liberally and ungrudgingly, without reproaching or faultfinding, and it will be given him. (James 1:5 AMP) > In due time Samson was born; and he grew and the Lord blessed him. And the Spirit of the Lord began to move him at times (Judges 13:24-25). You need the move of the spirit of the Lord upon you, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord; And He shall make you of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord: and you shall not judge after the sight of your eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of your ears: But with righteousness you shall judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and you shall smite the earth with the rod of your mouth, and with the breath of your lips shall you slay the wicked (Isaiah 11:2-4). • The Spirit of God cannot lead you to be unfruitful and immature; For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. (II Timothy 1:7 NKJV) > But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God...Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one. For “who has known the mind of the LORD that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ. (I Corinthians 2:9-10, 12-16 NKJV) • We have the mind of Christ to be successful just as He was, for He says; “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. (John 14:12 NKJV) > I have the mind of Christ, which if the mind of doing all things well and silencing the accusers. SUCCESS IS POSSIBLE BECAUSE JESUS IS THE LORD! Phil 2:9-11. + Brethren, with this mind in you, may you always obey the truth and work out your own salvation/success with fear of God and trembling at His word; for it is God Who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. And being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ! Amen! (Phil 2:12-13; 1:6) Grow Up In Grace & In The Knowledge Of The Lord!
