Spiritual Thought (Most people would say Random Thought - but you know Im not one who believes in the concept of coincidence or the likes): In any case - I think its so interesting that there are those who would rather convince their children that Santa is delivering presents, coming down chimneys, etc. when they KNOW they are purchasing the gifts themselves. They teach their kids to not talk to or accept gifts from strangers. Yet this strange guy in a red 2 piece, can come in their house, drop off gifts to their kids and they condone it by saying, look what Santa left you. I know I tend to get overly analytical now and then, thats just my nature, but I think its way past time that we start sharing with our kids the TRUE reason for the season. Including where the whole concept of gift giving comes from. The three wise men brought Baby Jesus gifts out of obedience and faith and to show their acceptance of who they believed Him to be. FYI - We (society and paganism) adapted the whole gift giving to each other concept. Of course now its turned into a dont enjoy your family in Thanksgiving, but instead spend that time fighting at Walmart day. . . I digress . . Society is so quick to give props to Santa. Now granted, Saint Nicholas was an actual person who much like Mother Theresa, dedicated all that he had to helping others. But we need not take the birth of Christ and transform it into a day of simply gift giving by Santa. The true Saint Nicholas was what we today would call a philanthropist and indeed that is a great thing, we today as Believers are admonished to do the same. Christmas is just that, Christ-mass Do some research on Christmas, its origins may surprise you.
