Spotlight on . . . Chilton Primary Since February 2012 - TopicsExpress

Spotlight on . . . Chilton Primary Since February 2012 students taking part in the EDDY People from Ferryhill Business and Enterprise College have been working on a disused piece of land near Chilton Primary school. The land was covered in litter and showed signs of ASB. Chilton Primary made a successful bid to Awards for All and the 4 Together partnership aka Ferryhill AAP and work commenced. So far the site has had raised beds, a poly tunnel and a keyhole garden installed. The young people have cleared the litter, planted in the raised beds as well as utilising the remaining ground for vegetables which were harvested and given to the primary school kitchen. A number of paving slabs were excavated and were recycled into a hopscotch. The group are also creating a trail in the wooded area using the theme of the childrens story The Gruffalo which will lead to a seated area ideal for picnics and story telling. They also hope that the younger children from the community will take an interest in the wild life there once the site is finished and handed over. Well done to all those young people who are working on this site. Thanks also to FBEC, S and D, Chilton Primary school, Ferryhill AAP, Awards for All and Wayne Gibson the local youth worker for all their support.
