Spring Class to be celebrated UA will confer undergraduate and graduate degrees to members of the Spring Class of 2014 this weekend. Commencement ceremonies are scheduled at E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall on Friday, May 9, at 7 p.m.; Saturday, May 10, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.; and Sunday, May 11, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. President Luis M. Proenza will deliver the address at each ceremony. Visit the Graduation website to learn more about the festivities. Five students are being singled out for an additional honor— speaking on behalf of their fellow classmates as student responders at the ceremonies. Among them, Gabrielle Dimengo, an honors student who will receive bachelors degrees in accounting and finance, summa cum laude, at the Friday, May 9, ceremony, and Stephen McNulty, who will receive a biology degree with a pre-med concentration, magna cum laude, at the Saturday, May 10, ceremony at 10 a.m. Dimengo jumpstarted her college career at UA by taking postsecondary classes during her senior year at nearby Green High School. With the knowledge gained in classes and during two internships -- with J. Rayl Transport and The J.M. Smucker Company -- Dimengo will be joining the risk advisory division of EY (Ernst & Young) in September. McNulty traveled the world as a wildlife photographer before finding his true passion — a career in medicine. After signing up for a two-week field study course in marine biology in Tahiti with biology professors Dr. Richard Londraville and Dr. Peter Niewiarowski, the Canton native headed home and enrolled at UA. ________________________________________
