Squatters Mau Forest have been served with a two-week notice to quit. The notice was issued to fresh settlers who have encroached to the forest manned by the Kenya Forest Service. The decision was made during a security meeting at Narok county commissioner Kassim Farah’s office. The meeting resolved that illegal settlers must vacate gazetted forests in the Mau Complex. Farah, who chaired the meeting, warned those who defy the notice will be evicted. “The notice applied to those who have invaded the forests and started felling trees and burning charcoal. Stern action will be taken against them.”
