Srinagar, May 21: Valley’s lone cricketer to represent India Parvez Rasool has finally been given chance in the playing eleven for his team Hyderabad Sunrisers. He claimed Indian dashing batsman Yuraj Singh. Rasool came in to bowl his final over and struck right away. Yuvraj Singh was caught by Dale Steyn in the deep second ball. After that Rasool bowled another tight over and ends with with impressive figures of 4-0-26-1. Jammu and Kashmir Cricket team captain Rasool was bought for Rs 95 lakh by Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian premier league (IPL) auction for 2014. Rasool joined Hyderabad team in February after making his debut for Pune Warriors last year. Rasool who scored 594 runs from seven matches at an average of 54 including two centuries and took 33 wickets at an average of 18 with three five-wicket hauls in the last Ranji Trophy season after he was sold to Hyderabad team on the second day of the IPL 7 auction . The base price for Rasool was 20 lakhs and he was auctioned by Sun Risers Hyderabad for 95 lakhs above then likes of Zimbabwean international player Brendon Taylor. Rasool was the only player who was picked from the J&K while in total seven cricketers from the state were slated to go bidding include all-rounder Samiullah Beigh, speed star Abid Nabi, medium pacer Ram Dayal, batsman Ian Dev Singh, Shubham Khajuria and Umar Nazir. He got his maiden call-up for the national team in 2013 for the Zimbabwe tour. He became the second cricketer from Jammu & Kashmir, after Vivek Razdan, to get selected for the national side. While playing for Pune warriors last year, Rasool got the wicket of Jacques Kallis and finished with figures of 1/23 off 4 overs in that match. He played his next IPL match against the Mumbai Indians in which he scored 4 not out and bowled one over conceding five runs.
