His remains are located in Venice (bones) and in Bari Italy at Basilica Nichola (burial) with a sacred manna attributed to him preserved in Egypt. Born into a wealthy family; Nicholas became a monk and generously gave of his inherited wealth to the needy. Stories of his generosity led to many Christmas traditions we have today such as the often richly adorned stockings by the hearth. Below is a link to a youtube biography with moderate production values but many details. 13 minutes. Oddly the comments are quite stinging even though the history of the man St. Nicholas indicates he was patient, kind, wise and loving. There will always be Scrooges and Gringichs. We all choose which way we want to see the world. It would seem Bishop Nicholas chose Joy.
