Staffin Community Council Business Meeting 4th July 2013 Present: Norma Young, Janet Lamont, Isobel MacDonald, Chris Ann Ross, Duncan Gillanders. Gillanders, John Gillies and Doreen Harben. Apologies: Cllr John Gordon, Ian Stratton. Minutes of Last Meeting: Proposed Janet Lamont. Seconded Chris Ann Ross. Matters Arising: Planters: 2 more tubs purchased for the memorial bench at Culnacnoc, delivery arranged. Nurse’s House: Responses received from Dave Thompson, Rhoda Grant & Charles Kennedy, this was a letter from Elaine Mead, NHS Highland, stating that a site meeting between Estates Experts, The Medical Practice Local Management and Community Representatives should be arranged. Doreen Harben to contact Ms Mead acknowledging her letter and to request that a date for this meeting should be set before the end of August. Letter received from Portree Medical Centre stating that they are increasing the number of appointments available by 3 per week, and that they continue to monitor the situation in the Staffin Surgery. Doreen Harben to acknowledge receipt of the correspondence and to inform the Practice that the Council will continue to engage with the community as to the ability to gain an appointment within a reasonable time frame. 22 Garafad: Marion Ross advises that there are to be 7 dwellings erected on the site. Doreen Harben has received no response from Highland Council Planning, to email again. Staffin Trust Projects: Donald Ross to attend the September meeting. Correspondence: 1. Letter From Liz Cowie advising of payment of annual grant. 2.Brochure from Hags-Smp offering 10% discount on play park products to local Parish & Community Councils. John MacDonald to be invited to attend a future meeting to advise on Staffin’s play park. 3. Thank you letter received from Margaret Nicholson, thanking the council for the £200.00 donation to Staffin School. A.O.C.B.: 1. Midwifery travel still ongoing, letter from Isobel MacDonald read at the last Ward Forum Meeting. Will continue to monitor. 2. Condition of Staffin – Portree Road raised again Doreen Harben to again contact the roads department. 3. Next Meeting date 5th September 2013, 19.30 in Staffin School
