Staglieno - Tomb Raggio by Augusto Rivalta, 1872 The tomb represents the family members gathered at the bedside of the elderly householder, Carlo. His son Edilio, known shipowner and industrialist, is standing intent to comfort the mother, but with an eye to the bed on which lies his father. The representation of the scene is very realistic, in a bourgeois interior where no angels of comfort or accompanying are present , nor other symbolic figures. Augusto Rivalta describes in detail the furniture, clothes and ornaments, but also the emotional state of the characters.
