State of Maine to leave Castine Wednesday, departure will be streamed online While the tradition of training ship State of Maine leaving Castines harbor with Maine Maritime Academy students is long standing, a new twist will be introduced this year. Spokeswoman Jennifer DeJoy tells WNSX, this is the first year you can watch the departure streaming live online. In the past, Dejoy says they attempted to utilize a web cam but it would get overloaded with traffic. So this year theyve setup a webstream. DeJoy says the 2 month cruise allows freshmen and junior students pursuing an officers license to train at sea. In the meantime sophomores will be stationed on merchant ship worldwide.
