State of affairs of present Medical Students - Must Read Dear - TopicsExpress

State of affairs of present Medical Students - Must Read Dear Fellow Doctors, I don’t want to disclose my name at this point of time because it holds no meaning any more. I have passed my PG exam in June 2014 and have got a posting as a Senior Resident in one of the Govt. Medical Colleges in Telangana. But now my entity as a doctor has become a laughing stock among the people around me. I have a hefty educational loan on my head but I am not in a position to earn anything yet, even after passing out the exams with flying colours. I have enquired my seniors and they have not received their salary for the last 6 months. Going by this and based on the fact that the Govt. has not given anything in written about our salaries, I don’t know how to repay my loan. The Govt. has not allowed me to get registered for my additional qualification. I am not allowed to practice outside in many corporate hospitals due to lack of registration. No medical colleges were taking me because of the same reason. I am not being recognized as a specialist after 6 months of passing my exam. WHERE IS JUSTICE FOR ME? This is not the condition being faced by me alone. One of my SR friends’ father has had a stroke and is in need of money for treatment. But because of this present condition, he is struggling and taking loans from people he knew for his treatment. His self-confidence has totally gone down due to this situation. WHERE IS JUSTICE FOR HIM? Another friend of mine has his family in a small village in Karimnagar, He was in the hope of being posted in Karimnagar but had been posted in Hyderabad. Now he has to stay away from his family while paying rent for a room even though he is not earning anything. WHERE IS JUSTICE FOR HIM? Another friend comes from a very poor farmer family and is in huge debt. They are relying on their doctor son to get them out of this situation. With the current situation, it is not possible. WHERE IS JUSTICE FOR HIM? A senior of mine has been trying for a government job for 6 years now. He did not get it till now. He says that if this Senior resident plan becomes mandatory, there will not be any government openings anymore. WHERE IS JUSTICE FOR HIM? STILL, in spite of all these problems, all my above friends, including myself have supported the JUDA strike by not attending duties. There are people without any of such problems and still they are attending their duties happily, not caring for the community which is suffering. Some of my colleagues are giving family problems as a reason. Don’t we have similar family problems? How will joining this ridiculous compulsory bonded service solve your family issues? We are standing united inspite of severe tensions at home because we believe in morals. We are attending all the meetings held by JUDA and we are aware of the situation of the strike. HOW MANY OF YOU ARE AWARE OF WHAT IS ACTUALLY GOING ON? Without knowing what is going on, people call me every day asking what is happening and what JUDA is doing to solve this issue. Why don’t you come and see what is happening? Are you not a doctor who has made a choice in life and doing what you are doing today like me? Don’t you feel responsible for what is being done to our community today? Stop watching Satymeva Jayate and feel enraged on the society. Ask yourself what you are doing today? Do you still want to ignore all this and go ahead and work? Is this why you have selected this profession 10 years ago? To be oppressed and suppressed by politicians who are working for their own political and financial mileage? PLEASE THINK ABOUT IT!!!!WHERE IS JUSTICE FOR US!!!! Thanks, Your frustrated colleague.
