Statement on reshuffling of Cabinet 20 July 2013 The ANC-Limpopo welcomes cabinet reshuffling by Premier Stan Mathabathe. The reshuffling reflects the ANC-led government drives to deliver to the people of Limpopo what they are looking for- the people orientated government. Over the past months we have recorded define success in certain areas. However, we still have many challenges, and these frankly overshadow our successes to -date. We are acutely aware that these challenges have led to a loss of confidence in the administration amongst the electorate. In response to this, the Premier decided on a number of changes needed to strengthen the performance of the ANC in and outside government, in order to deliver people responsive government to the people of Limpopo. The following Cabinet members have been sworn-in today:- Mr. Charles Sekoati, becomes the MEC for Economic Development and Tourism Department Mr. Lehlogonolo Masoga becomes the MEC for Roads and Transport Department. Mr. Ishmael Kgetjepe becomes the MEC for Department of Cooperative Governance, Human Settlement and Tradional Affairs. Mme. Meriam Ramadwa, becomes the MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture Department. Mr. Dickson Masemola, becomes the MEC for Public Works Department Mr. Rudolph Phala, becomes the MEC for Treasury Department The following were not available to be sworn-in today, due to other work commitments; they will be sworn in on Monday, 22 July 2013. Mme. Rosina Semenya will become the MEC for the Department of Agriculture Mme. Dikeledi Magadzi, will become the MEC for the Department of Education Mme. Letsatsi Duba, will become the MEC for the Health and Social Development Department Mme. Joyce Mashamba, will become the MEC for Safety, Security and Liaison Department. The ANC believes this represents the most practical means of moving the Province forward and halts the needless suffering of the people. We therefore wish to thank those members who have been recalled and those remaining in their portfolios to join the ANC led government in redoubling its efforts to deliver services to the people of the province. The fact of the matter is that no one has been fired but there have been realignments that will enable the Premier to effectively discharge his constitutional duties. Such a move is intended to strengthen the Premier`s constitutional responsibilities in areas of planning, policy formulation, and supervision of the executive. The reshuffling will make government "more active and vibrant". The Premier has sent the right men and women to the right places. Cabinet reshuffle is normal practices all over the world. The Premier has a duty to reinforce the areas of his government. We would also like to pay tribute to out gone executive members who served the ANC-led government well, confident that they will continue to make meaningful contribution in areas where they are deployed.
