Stating what should be obvious amid a huge nearby wildfire and an ongoing red flag warning, a burn ban has been enacted on the Kenai Peninsula by local, state and federal officials. What that means is no campfires or use of fire grates and rings in state park and refuge campgrounds. Use of charcoal grills is also prohibited, and only cooking stoves and gas grills may be used. But that doesnt mean you have to stay away from your favorite spot on the Kenai over Memorial Day weekend. All state park and refuge campgrounds remain open to camping.
