Statistically speaking, nuclear energy has the lowest number of deaths per kilowatt hour. I knew it was "cleaner" than coal and natural gas, but it really surprised me that nuclear energy has fewer deaths per kilowatt hour than both wind and solar power, on a global average. Whatever we can do to phase out coal-fired and natural gas-fired power plants, such as building new nuclear plants (or adding reactors at current plants) as well as adding solar and wind energy to the grid, is something we must do ASAP to ensure a sustainable future for our planet.
