Status Update By Gillie Mackenzie REASON DAY 24.03.2014 A lot of people I meet are incredibly reluctant to talk about the Referendum. There is a bizarre politeness surrounding the whole thing, an idea that the topic should be avoided at all costs, lest we offend. This is no time for politeness and apathy. I am not going to fall out with folk if they disagree with me on this (and of course many of my very lovely pals do). However, this is the most important political vote we will take in our lifetimes and we ALL need to get talking about it – right now, rather than in October when it’s all over. Everyone has a vote and everyone should exercise it. So on this special day, I want to say my Reasons for voting YES are many and varied and I have made them on here before. I simply want an independent Scottish government, elected by the people of Scotland which I am confident will be fairer, more equitable, more understanding, nuclear free, honest, fully accountable, optimistic, inspirational, creative, and I am really hopeful it will have Community and The Common Weal at its heart. I suppose this is aimed mainly at No voters and Undecided voters. I’d love to hear your REASONS in return. I’m quite easily swayed on a lot of things (bad trait!) but I have not heard one single thing that has even had me wobble about my decision to vote YES.
